Drawing on the expertise of decades of legal work is a strength of the lawyers at Gilbert Harrell. Our firm is fortunate to continue the association of retired partners, and remains proud of the honorable careers of so many who have come before.

Gilbert Harrell Sumerford & Martin is pleased to maintain relationships with retired attorneys who devoted their legal careers to our firm. While there are scores who have gone before, currently their ranks include Wallace E. Harrell, James B. Gilbert, Jr. and M.F. Martin, III.

Wallace Harrell retired as the Glynn County Magistrate Judge in 2023. Mr. Harrell practiced with the firm from 1956-2018. During his long and decorated career, he led the firm’s litigation group, served on the State Board of Bar Examiners, chaired the Judicial Invitational Golf Classic, and was elected to membership in the American College of Trial Lawyers.

M.F. Martin, III, a native of Liberty County, grew up on St. Simons Island and graduated from Glynn Academy, class of 1954. Fleming has served generations of individuals, families and timber companies as a real property lawyer with an expertise in all matters related to detail, for which he earned membership in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He retired from the firm in 2017, but continues to entertain.
